Public Comment at Sept 7th 20-16 HRC Meeting
Comment by; Joe Anybody:
Concerns about the DOJ, COAB, and CPRCs obligations to be at the table. Cop watch
wanted to share those comments. It had been hard to get our voices at the table and we would want the
Commission to continue working on that. The bimonthly meeting suggestion worries me. If there is
good communication then fine, but it is hard enough getting communication from HRC in the past. I feel
the community is not going to know much of what is going on. Citizens should be involved and still
have a place at the table during times of reconstruction so the community knows what is going on.

Do to the lack of HRC meetings now more than ever before and a lack of overall informations, lack of sharing any of the small
sub- meeting, a total lack of any kind of social media community engagement, and / or any sharing of my HRC meeting videos,
a lack of engagement with interested community members, lack of transparency from general meetings regarding executive decisions
and changes, lack of being able to maintain members, lack of city council support and engagement with the HRC, lack of leadership
that can keep the Portland HRC viable and active, lack of listening to volunteer members concerns and keeping volunteers on
board, lack of meeting notes, lack of invites to gatherings, lack of members on appointed community groups (COAB - CPRC) and
a lack of representing human rights current issues in Portland.
I have decided I will no longer be filming their meeting or trying to lift up what ever it is they might be doing (or
not doing). I feel like the group has worked its self into oblivion and has become a mute group. I have filmed this body of
volunteers since 2008 and as of now I no longer see any value in continuing to do so. No disrespect to any of the HRC members
or staff.
